About Courage for Katie

  • Courage for Katie provides non-medical support to children and families impacted by cancer

  • Our vision is a world where no child or family affected by cancer feels isolated or unsupported. Through emotional, financial, and practical assistance, we seek to foster community, alleviate burdens, and cultivate courage when all hope feels lost.

  • Courage for Katie exists to support children and families impacted by cancer in non-medical ways. By providing financial aid, emotional support, and practical resources, we aim to alleviate the stress and burden that cancer brings, empowering families to focus on healing and resilience.

    1. Compassion: We act with empathy, kindness, and understanding, prioritizing the needs and feelings of children and families battling cancer.

    2. Community: We believe in the strength of connection. Together, we foster a network of support where no family faces cancer alone.

    3. Courage: We empower individuals to face their challenges with resilience and bravery, offering hope even in the darkest moments.

    4. Integrity: We operate with transparency, honesty, and ethical standards in all our actions and communications.

    5. Respect: We honor the dignity, privacy, and individuality of the families we serve, ensuring that their voices are heard and valued.

    6. Innovation: We are committed to exploring new ways to provide effective and meaningful support, constantly adapting to meet the changing needs of those affected by cancer.

    1. Provide financial assistance to families for daily needs during treatment.

    2. Offer emotional support such as peer groups and respite care to reduce the psychological toll of cancer.

    3. Facilitate community engagement by connecting families with local resources, volunteers, and social support networks.

    4. Deliver practical assistance such as meal services, household chores, and transportation to treatment facilities, as well as comfort items for children through programs like “Katie’s Cart”.

    5. Foster a sense of empowerment by helping families develop coping strategies and connect with others facing similar challenges.

The Evolution of Courage for Katie’s Logos

Courage for Katie was originally started as a Facebook page and GoFundMe crowdsourcing to fundraise for an individual family. When Katie was originally diagnosed, she LOVED mermaids. we used the OG mermaid logo that she helped design on t-shirts, banners, and all sorts of things to raise money for her care and comfort.

In June 2022, when she received her new diagnosis, she made jokes about spiders crawling out of her skull when her medical team drilled for her biopsy. Of course we needed a new logo to match.

When we started making plans to move forward with a nonprofit, we knew we needed an updated logo that combined the two. We launched our new logo in June 2024.
